Who am I?  (A Loaded Question)

My name is Tobi (with an ‘i’ so it’s feminine).  This is me in Africa, posing with one of the loves of my life.  This was a truly blissful day.

I was born and raised and currently live in Montana, which is a magical place.  While we lack things like other people, ethnic diversity, and a variety of entertainment options, we (Montanans) make up for it with our four beautiful seasons, clean air, mountains, rivers and well, we’re just generally awesome people.  I am married to a fellow awesome Montanan.  This is him (and me).  Notice his kind eyes.

My husband is my number one fan.  He is very encouraging and supportive and I cherish him every day…well, most days.  Since our first date, I felt that I could be my(real)self–which has been so liberating and something that I never felt with other partners.  He is the “…one whom my soul loves.”

We live in a lively, eclectic neighborhood, in a house built in 1959.  We have 3 furry, sudo-children, Sake Son, Pancho Villa and Loca Beans.  We want to have real kids, several in fact, but maybe not yet, or maybe soon, I don’t know.

I work full-time at a job that I cannot discuss due to confidentiality, but it is related to school counseling.  I like my job, but it is stressful and exhausting and I’m pretty sure I don’t make any more than a greeter at your local big box store.  Oh well…here’s to jobs that are fulfilling that don’t pay crap!  My husband is a teacher and a football coach, and he looks really cute with his whistle around his neck.

Why I’m Blogging…

Me blogging was my sister’s idea, but don’t get me wrong, I wanted to blog too.  This is a picture of my sissy being silly.  When we are around each other, we are incapable of taking a normal photo.  I’m pretty sure she taught me everything I know, about food and being a nurturing human being.

I will be blogging about life, love, troubles, beautiful things, my family, my dogs, food, soulfulness, movies, books, things that bother me, and generally stuff that leads to blissfulness, which brings me to my next topic…

What’s with my blog name?

Hunting bliss, although I’m from Montana and a recovering redneck, has nothing to do with guns, ammo or camouflage.  Bliss is defined as a state of ‘perfect happiness’ or ‘great joy’.  The great Joseph Campbell said, “Follow your bliss and the universe with open doors where there were only walls.”  I think this is another way of saying:  Cultivate the things that make you tick, that make you feel alive and like your life has meaning…Do those things and doors will open left and right for you, because you are following what’s in your heart–what God has put in your heart.  Hunting for bliss is a blog about my search for bliss in life through food, relationships, God, travel, nature, photography, writing, and all the other things that make my heart full.

XO, Tobi
