Friday Dlog: Study Buddy
As I’ve learned recently, studying and writing academically are tough. I’m not complaining, really, I’m glad to be in school and thankful for the opportunity. But, let me tell you sister, it’s hard work. I have set up certain rituals to make school work a more pleasurable experience. For example, I always have a pot of hot water next to my computer, for endless warmth and hydration! I also have a lovely space heater that keeps the ice sickles at bay in our frigid office. There is usually chocolate near by with some kind of instrumental music playing in the background. This is my “zone” but it would not be complete without one major installation…Loca, of course. She is a faithful companion, even when her mother spends hours a day with her nose in a textbook.
Sometimes she is alert and stares at me longingly, attentively.
Other times she is sound asleep, making me jealous of her ability to curl up and doze anywhere, any time.
But, most of the time, I am simply boring her to death.

Reminds me of my four-legged study buddy Jake when I was in my MBA program. He would frequently cuddle up while I wrote papers into the wee hours of the night. It’s so nice to have adorable company when you have to hit the books. Happy studying, Tobi!
It’s indescribable how dogs just lighten the mood and bring joy, even in the midst of crappy homework or other miserable times!

If studying was all very easy, it wouldn’t be fun, would it? Challenges is what makes us (or many of us) tick. But when the going gets though, it’s good to have a nice companion like Loca.
