Garam Masala Deviled Eggs (For Jenna!)
I want to start by telling you that this post is created especially for my blogger friend, Jenna, at Jenna’s Everything Blog. You see, Jenna is going to be bringing her first baby (Alice) into the world very soon, and this post is for her virtual baby shower. Since this is my first virtual shower, I fretted for quite awhile about what I should post about. I wanted it to be meaningful, but not over the top. I really don’t have motherly advice, since I’m not a mother yet, and besides, Jenna is going to be a great mom. Girl don’t need no advice! From what I can tell, she’s got a kind heart, she’s faithful, gentle and has a great hubby–all of which will make her a fantastic mother.
So…I made eggs! I happen to know that Jenna, much like myself, LOVES eggs. I think she also enjoys spicy, ethnic food. These non-traditional deviled eggs are tasty, with a little crunch, a hint of spice, a bit of sweet, and plenty of creaminess. What more could one want in a finger-food?
Jenna darling, I hope you love this recipe as much as I do. Enjoy your new adventures in motherhood!
XO, Tobi
Recipe for Garam Masala Deviled Eggs:
(recipe via epicurious)
6 eggs, hardboiled and shelled
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
3 tablespoons minced scallions
1 tablespoon minced jalapeno
1 1/5 teaspoon mango chutney
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
salt and pepper to taste
finely chopped radishes
Mash egg yolks and then add all ingredients, except for radishes, and mix well. Add salt and pepper to taste. Fill eggs with mixture, top with radishes and be generous, the crunchiness is nice!

Ahh! You have a Special Day plate?! I’ve never seen anyone else have one of those. We received one for our wedding 4 years ago.
Awesome.
And love this recipe! Looks like a whole bunch of ingredients that I like all together. Nice to join you in this shower.

There was so much “TLC” in your post, right down to the “You Are Special” plate! (Gorgeous photos, too!) I always make the same ol’, same ol’ deviled eggs — these sound MUCH better. Thanks for sharing this recipe for Jenna’s shower!

Thank you for your sweet post! And yes, you have my number. Eggs . . . ethnic . . . spicy . . . YES.
You are SO welcome! Happy day to you! XO
I love that you made this just for Jenna–I think it’s cool we treated it like a real shower in that way.
I think you’re right, they’re exactly suited to her tastes. I wish this was a real party so I could try them, but the beauty of sharing recipes is that I can try them in my own kitchen now! Thank you so much for joining us and putting up with my ineptitude as a host and the crazy amount of emails. I think we managed to pull it off pretty well despite my inexperience!
You are being too hard on yourself! I thought you did a great job of planning and organizing. I never felt like you were annoying me with emails either
It has been fun to connect with all a whole new group of bloggers! Thanks for all of your hard work!! xoxo
Love that fun red plate, and the eggs look delicious! Too bad I couldn’t taste them, but I’m sure Jenna would love them!
Thanks! You can actually order the red plate online…in case you want your own! I thought it was such a good idea, that I bought one and started a new tradition in my family. We use it for birthdays, or milestones, and sometimes just because. Thanks for the comment.
Garam masala–what a great idea. I have a daughter who is a deviled egg maniac and I think that she will love this recipe. It was fun getting to participate with you and all of the others in Jenna’s shower. Nice to “meet” you!
My husband is a deviled egg maniac as well! He thought they were amazing! Nice to meet you too, Terri
*raises hand* I love eggs and ethnic food, too. WANT. It’s been great fun to be a part of this virtual shower with you!

Given Jenna’s adoration of Indian flavors I know she’d love these! As would anyone with a pulse. Delicious!
Anyone with a pulse….that’s saying a lot
The radishes take them over the top!
I LOVE deviled eggs, but I’ve never made them myself. I will definitely be making these soon.
