Birthday Bliss
This past week was all about celebrating. In fact, I think there was a referee that actually blew his whistle and called ‘excessive celebration’. Wait a second…did that happen? I don’t know.
First we partied it up for my birthday. I’m 21, finally! Ha! Then it was our wedding anniversary. Overall, the last week has been awesome and I feel so blessed to be surrounded by close family and friends.
We kicked off my bday with 9 holes….9 horrible holes, on my part. I’m the worst golfer ever but I’m still very new to the game. I might get better. Despite my poor game, I had fun and I golfed barefoot. Apparently people do that. The best part was that I got to go with my mom and sister. We don’t do things together that often even though we all live within an hour of each other. Kind of silly.
My husband made me a beautiful dinner on my birth-night. In lieu of cake, we had chocolate num nums from La Chatelaine, a French chocolatier in Bozeman. They are the absolute best! My personal favorite is their homemade marshmallow on a stick dipped in their dark chocolate. To top it all off, I had a stiff drink, of course, a gin and tonic.
I’ve reached an age where it is not about getting gifts anymore, it’s more about celebrating and spending time with loved ones. Nevertheless, here is a little montage of some of my cool gifts…golf, breakfast in bed, hydrangeas, and a fancy new yoga mat. The bottom line is that I’m a spoiled brat.
The following night, we went to my sister’s home for a birthday get together with family. Trust me when I say that it was a really good time. There were poodles with mohawks and pony rides!
My sister is an amazing cook and she did not disappoint. She made a delicious marinated pork tenderloin with grilled pineapple and a sesame quinoa salad. The men drank beer and the ladies each had an appropriately sized glass of New Age with lime. If you haven’t tried New Age, YOU MUST! It’s divine, if you like white wine, sparkling, on ice, with fresh lime. YUM! For dessert, my husband made some kind of amazing mud pie–all by himself.
My sister currently lives in a lovely old farmhouse, with several acres right on the river. But what’s even cooler is that she and her family are buying their first home…a real fixer-upper with a ton of potential!
The last collage is just me poking fun at myself…I may be 28 (sigh) but I’m still a kid at heart. That first picture is a little creepy. Let me explain. It was taken my birthday morning at about 5am. I had to work at 530 and noticed that I had some of the best bed head of my life. I had to take a photo. It was a birthday miracle! Also, for the record, I know how to ride a horse, though you can’t tell from any of these photos.
XO, Tobi

Love your opening quote, but don’t believe everything you see. You make each day what it is and its you that opens the doors or leaves them closed.
I agree with that, but it’s a hard lesson to learn. I sometimes think that doors and windows will appear for me and have neon signs that say, ‘this way Tobi!’
Happy birthday! Looks like a great start to another year to me. And don’t sigh until you reach 29 plus 8 like me! Ha!
yes, but wouldn’t you agree that each year gets better?! With a few minor lapses of course
Totally. I actually LOVE birthdays- mine most of all!
Looks like a great day and the food looks delish, New Age we call spritzers over here white wine and club soda, you can add lime or lemon too..very refreshing.
Happy belated Birthday.
Thank you!! It is like a Spritzer! Perfect summer drink….one of many perfect summer drinks
That marshmallow is taunting me right now with its tastiness. And a horseback ride on your birthday!? Girl after my own heart (I did that on my birthday this year, too).
Looks like it was a fabulous one for you!
That’s awesome! I used to ride horses all the time growing up and I totally took it for granted…now whenever I get a little pony ride it’s such a treat!!
I’m drooling over those chocolates… breakfast in bed… lucky girl… looks like a nice birthday!
they are drool worthy! thanks for visiting me
